Sun-a-rise

We had a beautiful sunrise this morning, and this is the sequence of shots I took, though I missed the best of it by the time I'd rescued my camera from downstairs and replaced my SD card that I had removed and left upstairs the night previously.  Typical..!  The Banner pic above was Sunset on the 7th. Painted Swirls - Sky Watch Friday

Last week I didn't get to join Sky Watch, I was feeling too ill and the computer screen wasn't helping matters.  Caused by a rare migraine attack.

All the following pics were taken on Sunday 23rd. October.

Lovely Cirrus paint swirls in the sky.
 such delicate feathery strokes
I don't know why this one came out this colour
A funny little grey cloud appears
My camera has one lense so I covered it with my
chiffon scarf to take this one of the bright sun.
 Grey evening clouds swirling in
But the sky is still blue on the other side of the road
 and little clouds are forming
I love the way the clouds constantly change

Sky Watch Friday - Weather Fronts and Sunsets

Tuesday afternoon on the way home from town I took pics of a weather front rolling in, dark clouds promising rain, and we had some heavy rain during the night and the following morning the sky was featureless Nimbostratus, we had a waterfall over our back door again.  Today, Thursday, started out the same way but eventually gave way to a few little clouds, by late afternoon the Sun actually showed itself and we had a beautiful Sunset.  The last two pics are from the shots I took this evening.  The Banner shot was taken on the 7th. of this month.

Sky Watch Friday - Clouds and Sunsets

This past week has been a crazy busy one, and I am late checking in on last Tuesdays contributions; so I am putting up some photo's of clouds and sunsets that I took on the 27th of September.  I will most likely be late getting around to checking on todays contributions too as I have to be out most of tomorrow searching out fabric for a Roman Centurions costume, then I have to get it made by Monday!

The cumulus almost seemed to be swirling vortex
Patches of  Velum and an 'almost' mini Kelvin-Helmholtz
 A parting of the clouds
A cropped shot of the parting of the clouds
 Sun setting over the villages
I love the blend of colours

Sky Watch Friday - Aerial Antics

The cloudscapes have been so beautiful every day this week, it makes it hard to choose from the dozens of photo's I have taken.  But on the 26th we had a really gorgeous day, after a week or more of stormy weather, a gorgeous blue sky, lots of different types of Cirrus, and the sky became an aerial playground with both commercial traffic and fighter planes.  So this week it is Contrails and Cirrus.

On the 27th a Microlite appears overhead
What is wrong with this pic - taken at High Noon on the 28th.
It is the bluest blue sky and CLOUDLESS, almost unheard of here.
My darling hubby suggests those of you with children should
print this one out and let the children decorate it..!

And finally, on the 27th. another beautiful Sunset

Sky Watch Friday - Inconstantia

My chariot
The time for preparing for another Sky Watch seems to have come round again rather quickly, and having had my computer crash two weeks ago has not made life any easier.  I am having to share a computer at the moment, but thankfully I have a flash drive which has been a real help, a lot of my photo's are already on it, and I can download the latest ones to it.  This past week has seen big changes, from blue skies, cirrus and cumulus to black storm clouds and lightning, to dramatic and gorgeous sunsets.  Unfortunately I didn't capture any lightning.  Click to enlarge photo's.
